In the thrilling Patchwork game, two players go head - to - head to construct the most beautiful and high - scoring patchwork quilt on a 9x9 personal game board. At the start, scatter all the patches randomly in a circle and put a marker just clockwise of the 2 - 1 patch. Each player gets five buttons, which serve as both currency and points in the game, and one player is selected as the starter.
On your turn, you can either buy one of the three patches clockwise of the spool or pass. To buy a patch, pay the button cost shown on it, move the spool to the patch's position in the circle, add the patch to your board, and move your time token on the time track by the number of spaces equal to the time on the patch. You can place the patch anywhere on your board without overlapping others, but it's best to fit them tightly. If your time token is behind or on top of your opponent's, you get another turn; otherwise, it's your opponent's turn. Instead of buying, you can pass. When you pass, move your time token to the space right in front of your opponent's and take one button from the bank for each space you moved.
Each patch has a button cost, a time cost, and 0 - 3 buttons on it. When you move your time token past a button on the time track, you earn 'button income': count the buttons on your board and take that many from the bank. There are five 1x1 patches on the time track. During setup, place five real 1x1 patches on these spaces. The first player to pass a patch on the time track gets it and places it on their board right away.
The first player to fill a 7x7 square on their board gets a bonus tile worth 7 extra points at the end (though this doesn't happen every game). When a player moves their time token to the central square of the time track, they get one final button income. The game ends when both players reach the center, and then scoring happens. Each player scores one point per button they have and loses two points for each empty square on their board. Scores can be negative, and the player with the most points wins.

How to use: First, set up the game by randomly arranging all the patches in a circle and placing a marker clockwise of the 2 - 1 patch. Each player gets five buttons. Decide who starts. On your turn, you can buy a patch or pass. If you buy, pay the button cost, move the spool, add the patch to your board, and move your time token. Place the patch on your board without overlapping. If your time token is in front of your opponent's, you get another turn. If you pass, move your time token and get buttons from the bank. Earn button income when you pass buttons on the time track. Grab 1x1 patches as you pass them on the time track. Try to fill a 7x7 square for a bonus.
Note: Scores can be negative, so manage your board well. The game ends when both players reach the center of the time track.
Maintenance: Keep the patches and tokens in a safe place to avoid losing them. You can use a storage box if you have one. Wipe the game board clean if it gets dirty.
